What is Air Resistance?

car

Le Mans cars like all sports cars are required to have bodywork which encloses and covers the wheels, unlike 'open wheel' formulae like F1.

In addition, The body shape must minimise drag (friction).
Le Mans cars are designed with aerodynamics, downforce and streamlining in mind.

The car needs to pass through the air as quickly as possible,
gaining as many benefits from it as possible.

Some dimensions such as length or height may be specified in the regulations.
