What is an oval track? |
Links: |
An oval track consists of two straights joined by two semicircular corners. Many 'oval' tracks are actually tri - ovals, having a long front straight where the pits and starting line are and a curved back straight or a corner in the middle of the back straight. Daytona is the most famous tri - oval. Many oval tracks longer than 2km are banked and slope towards the inside of the track to enable higher speeds to be achieved. Most of these tracks are in the USA. Most UK ovals are short (around 0.5km in length) |
