What do drivers have to take into consideration while driving this type of track? |

The reduction in downforce on this type of track will compromise braking and cornering performance, particularly when entering and leaving the pits. The disturbed air behind a car at high speeds can be used by a following car! When two cars are close together the drag of the front car is also reduced enabling both cars to travel faster than either alone. This can often be seen in NASCAR racing where the cars are often in closely following groups. If a car becomes separated from a group or is forced onto another line, it may lose a number of places before it can reattach itself to the group. |
