FRICTION
Rougher surfaces slow things down a lot faster than smoother surfaces!
For example: Trainers have a rough surface on the sole and therefore
they have more grip than normal shoes, this is because we often play sports
in trainers and need more grip in them than normal shoes.
Roads are also rough to slow cars down quickly when they need
to brake!
Sometimes we want more or less grip depending on what we are doing.
In formula one there are different tyres for different tracks and weather conditions!
- Soft tyres have a firm grip but wear out quickly!
- Harder tyres have less grip but they last longer!
